Boppio steam8/16/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() This bug did not affect everyone and typically only affected Catador. If you need a save file fixed for whatever reason, please don't hesitate to reach out to me on Discord. If your save file has been affected by this bug, it should at least be consistent now. Thank you to Pops for sending in the save file that replicated the issue consistently. This bug was extremely hard to track down and was debugged entirely on stream. This release fixes the well-known Catador/Ondor generation bug where your world generation is lost either between loads or between scene transitions. This release is backwards compatible with all 0.4.X releases so you should be able to automatically upgrade any recent file. Once a file is upgraded to the beta, it cannot be reverted back to 0.4.8. Warning: You may want to backup your save file before you checkout the beta branch if you want to be able to revert. I seem to have all of the bugs ironed out, so this release should be stable but just in case I have opted to just make it a beta release for now.įor those of you who want to checkout this beta release, you can follow these instructions to install the beta branch: I like to test each release for at least a few days without any major bugs, but unfortunately this release kept experiencing some pretty strange major issues. This originally was not going to be a beta release, but lots of small issues have cropped up and delayed this release by quite a bit. I will still release bug fixes here and there before the final 1.0 release. This will be the final some-what large release before the final release in December. Thank you everyone for the patience as I got this release together. I'll also be active on this post over the next few days, so please ask any questions you might have about the game.I know this release took a lot longer than expected but its finally here. We have also talked about more complicated topics on the stream as well, like kernel/systems development. I primarily use Unity but I have experience with Unreal Engine as well. We talk about game development topics constantly and I will sometimes work through examples of code or assets that people request. I also welcome anyone interested in game development to check out my stream (link below). Similar to other base buildings games, you research technology modules which unlock new buildings and items. Items can travel in either direction through transport tubes so organizing and expanding your base is much easier. ![]() In Boppio you construct transport tubes to connect buildings instead of conveyer belts. ![]() More about my game: Boppio is a factory building an automation game. I have prioritized the Linux build mainly because I use Linux as my primary development platform (I use Ubuntu 20.04 desktop with Gnome, please no ban). I just released it this morning on Steam (15% launch discount): īoppio is available as a native x86_64 bit binary (no Wine or Proton required). My name is John and I'm a solo game developer working on a game called Boppio. We know spam when we see it and will delete it. This means things like repetitious posting of similar content, low-effort posts/memes and misleading/exaggerated titles on link posts. We all need to support each other to help GNU/Linux gaming grow. If it's a link post, think about writing a comment to tell us more - the more you engage with us, the more we like it. Remember you are talking to another human being.ĭevs and content producers: If you've ported your game to Linux or created some GNU/Linux-gaming-related content (reviews, videos, articles) then, so long as you're willing to engage with the community, please post it here. Heated discussions are fine, unwarranted insults are not. Please flair tech-support requests as tech support and re-flair them as answered if an answer has been found. What exactly did you do, and how, and with what version of what? How have you tried to troubleshoot the problem? Vague, low-effort tech-support requests may get removed. Include relevant details like logs, terminal output, system information. Tech-support requests should be useful to others: those who might run into the same problem as well as those who might be able to help.
